1 GB Memory Disk
A memory disk is a physical disk which means, it is a unit of magnetic memory. The area where the memory is stored is divided into many logical disks for efficient use. The amount of space that is available in the memory disk can be found out by opening “My computer” and choosing “view or details” to see the required parameters.
There can be more than one memory disk and it is also feasible to enhance or upgrade the memory available. The memory capacity of a hard disk has a few medium sized GB. But today’s computer has Pentium processor and small memory disks are not sufficient.
The applications and the tasks that are accomplished with a computer warrant more memory. If the computer is only for training or accounting, then, a hard disk of 80 GB would be enough. But, if development programs and other scientific applications are to be carried out, then, memory of double the capacity would be required. Games need more memory than anything else.
It is always advisable not to fill the hard disk to its maximum capacity because this would slow down the functioning of the computer. The operating system would use up the space on the memory disk for temporary storage of data during the work. Therefore, the free space on the memory disk has to be checked in from time to time to make the computer run more effectively and easily. The unused files also have to be deleted to free up the memory space.
