1GB Video Memory
Video memory card is a component of video card that are hardware pieces, to generate the images seen on the monitor. The software used in the system cannot be utilised without a video card because the images will not be displayed without a video card.
The central processing unit of the system sends the applications to the video card and the video card decides the way the pixels have to be used so that the correct image appears on the monitor.
A video card is fundamentally made up of four parts namely, the motherboard connection, the processor, memory and the monitor connection. The data produced by the graphic processing unit, is temporarily stored on RAM which sends it to the digital analog convertor or DAC. This converts the image to analog signals that the monitor uses to display the image.
The video card will have its own built in memory known as video RAM. The memory of a video RAM is usually between 128 MB and 2GB. Generally, the video memory uses high speed or multi port memory. This is to enable the graphics processing unit to access it faster.
For normal functioning of the system, 1 GB memory is sufficient but for a gamer, the graphics accelerator or the video card is memory hungry and needs more of it. The video card is also known as display adapter, graphics card and graphics accelerator card. The video card works right from the moment the computer is switched on.
