DDR2 Memory 1GB

Ddr or double data rate random access memory is the technology used for storage and high speed retrieval of data on a computer. This has replaced the single data rate synchronous dynamic random access memory.

Ddr memory enables the computer to achieve greater bandwidth because the transfer of information is doubly faster with a ddr ram. Ddr 2 is an enhanced version of ddr1 although, now, ddr 3 version has also come.

Ddr 2 ram has faster memory bus signaling capabilities and clock frequencies whose clock frequency is more than 400 MHz. Due to this speed; the central power house of the computer is able to operate faster and more efficiently. So, the information is retrieved faster which makes it feasible to run multiple applications.

However the memory slots for DDR1 and DDR 2 are different and so, while upgrading the RAM of the computer which has DDR1 memory, it cannot be straight away upgraded to DDR2 memory. But, there are certain motherboards that have slots for all DDR1, 2 and 3 modules.

DDR 2 memory has 184 pins, as against 168 of SDR and a single notch at the connector, instead of two. While upgrading or buying a new memory, the nature of operating system also has to be taken into consideration.

DDR 2 memory is now being used in personal PCs, setting aside the apprehensions whether faster DDR memory can be used in them. This has pushed the market of single data rate memory to the back and has made them obsolete.
