RAM Memory 1GB

Random access memory is the data storage in the computer in which any storage location can be accessed directly. Ram temporarily stores the programs and data that are being used currently so that the processor can access them faster. Hence more RAM means easier and quicker access of data from the hard disk.

It is very difficult to determine precisely how much RAM will be necessary for the computer to operate smoothly. When the computer is new, the performance will be high but as computers age, RAM shortage will often reveal themselves as slow and unresponsive computer systems.

Apart from the requirements of the computer, many other factors play a large role in determining how much RAM a computer needs. The operating system also determines the amount of RAM needed, such as Linux can run smoothly on minimal amount of RAM whereas Vista users should opt for at least 2 GB of RAM, in order for the system to function, efficiently. For windows XP, a minimum of 512 mb and an ideal 1GB memory is good.

The RAM can be upgraded in the computer and is a relatively cheaper process and takes just ten to fifteen minutes to install. Once the extra RAM is installed, the computer will operate faster. Better still, if the computer is under warranty, it can be taken to where it was purchased and asked to install the extra RAM. The difference after upgrading the RAM will be clearly visible in the speed of the computer.
